The Practice Project

The first project is a 24-page booklet which is based in your newfound skills in Photoshop and Indesign. You will use what you learned and with Chaya’s guidance, end with a full-colour, beautiful first piece for your growing portfolio.

The Identity Project

The second project is based in marketing and the design process. The Identity Project starts with a chosen brief that gives you the information you need to create a unique, stunning design logo and letterhead for an imaginary company. You will learn the ins and outs of dealing with clients and how to go from a spark of an idea to a fully interactive graphic design created with the Adobe programs Illustrator and Indesign.

The Brochure Project

The third project is a brochure started off on a different imaginary company. The brief you choose will include in pertinent information to create the ultimate brochure. You will learn all about the ‘behind the scenes’ parts of graphic design including finding inspiration, visual hierarchy, layout and how to work on a grid.

The Independent Project

The last project is an independent study done almost exclusively by the student based on either a real or made up company. You can create whatever you want, including a logo, a letterhead, a brochure…whatever it is that will show off your design skills and make your client happy!

Tips for creating your killer portfolio

Design with Confidence

Our goal here is to give you all the tools you need to design with confidence, and be thrilled with your work! Your job is essentially give the client what he needs, we will teach you to do that with an understanding of how to get the job done and how to do it with boldness.

Group Work

Studying in a group is an advantage that surpasses none: you have peers willing to compliment and criticize your work so that you can grow faster and better. Knowledge is pooled between yourselves and each helps the other out, you can rely on one another for help and information.
